Sick and Safe Leave Passes

Last Friday, the Minneapolis City Council made history by passing the first-ever sick and safe leave mandate in the State of Minnesota.  Moreover, the ordinance is also the most restrictive in the nation.  We believe the City of Minneapolis has over-reached on this issue and are extremely concerned for the regional business community.  Read the ordinance

Your Chamber is very involved in this issue through a number of channels, including serving as secretary/treasurer of the Metropolitan Advocacy Coalition of Chambers (MACC), a group of 21 chambers of commerce throughout the Twin Cities metro area, with a combined membership of more than 10,000 businesses.  Read more about MACC's position on this as reported in the Star Tribune.

Rosemount Business Input Wanted

The City of Rosemount will undertake a major update to its Comprehensive Plan. The update process begins with a series of smaller area planning meetings intended to gather input about the long-range vision for the community. Rosemount, like other communities in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area, is required to update its Comprehensive Plan every ten years. The update is expected to take up to two years to complete, with a final plan being adopted in 2018.

These meetings started last week and are based on geographic areas. We encourage businesses to participate and provide input into future planning. The southeast area of Rosemount (Highway 52/County Road 42 area) will be discussed on June 2 at 6:00 p.m. at the Steeple Center and a meeting for downtown Rosemount will be scheduled later this summer.  Find out more information here.

Member Spotlight: Positive Impact on the Community

Joel Fugleberg
At Lifestyle Chiropractic, I provide health and wellness care to our community by relieving pain without drugs and helping people avoid the need for surgery. We empower and teach people how to remain healthy through lifestyle, nutrition and fitness tips. Each individual is different and so our tailored approach to care builds close relationships with many of our patients. I've found the DCR Chamber to be a valuable place for building relationships as well. Networking with and meeting other business owners who are trying to make a positive impact in the community is a highlight of my experience so far. There are regular opportunities to get involved and to volunteer within the Chamber which is another great way to make a difference. I appreciate the effort the Chamber makes to include a variety of events and encourage the growth of their members!
Still Tied Up!

Team Cindy took the lead last week by increasing the number of referrals by volunteers!  Don't forget to join a Member Madness team - Team Cindy or Team Mark by contacting Vicki Stute and share your prospective member leads through this easy online form. Need more details? Click here.
