Another Reason to Attend Business Day at the Capitol on April 20: Billions are Leaving

During the last two years, Minnesota lost or began losing an estimated $2.1 billion in taxable income from 3,099 taxpayers, according to a research study on wealth migration conducted by Twin Cities Business with help from research firm The Morris Leatherman Company. These same individuals have $17 billion in median net worth and $31 billion in median gross estate value. In almost three-quarters of those moves, respondents said the reason for leaving had to do with Minnesota's tax policy and collection practices. This amounts to an estimated loss of approximately $1.5 billion in annual taxable income, $12 billion in average net worth and $22 billion in gross estate value due to Minnesota's tax and collection activities. The TCB study also found this trend will continue for at least the next five years, during which time an estimated 12,172 Minnesotans will leave, taking with them a combined $5.2 billion in taxable income, $65 billion in net worth and $122 billion in gross estate value. Are you Interested in Joining a ChamberNet Group?

hands_teamwork_puzzle.jpg
ChamberNet groups operate as lead/referral networking groups that utilize a non-competing core of business people to build relationships and generate additional business leads for one another. Currently we have two groups that meet on a bi-monthly basis and are looking for member interest for a potential third group developing. This Business-to-Business (B2B) format is for business people who primarily sell to other businesses. These groups are open to visitors on a non-compete basis.

Member Spotlight: The Value of Relationships

Sue Nelson
I am thriving in my second career as a real estate agent with Edina Realty. After nearly 30 years of corporate leadership and business ownership, I have transferred those skills into a successful real estate business-a lifelong interest and passion. The value of relationships with people is the same in the corporate world and in real estate. Putting people first and seeking a great outcome for the clients I work with is part of my DNA. I love to help people with one of the largest decisions of their life!

The DCR Chamber has been invaluable for networking with community leaders. I enjoy the interaction with bright and like-minded people. When I joined four years ago, "Meet the Chamber" was a great way to find opportunities members have to get involved. As a committee member of Women's Circle, WomEn's Conference, Ambassadors, and ChamberNet, I have connected with members on a much more personal level.
