Chamber Foundation to Offer Scholarships to Four Young Women Through WomEn's Conference Event

As you may know, the DCR Chamber annually grants four - $500 scholarships to deserving female students attending high school in the Dakota County Region through the funds raised from the WomEn's Conference Wine Pull event. At this year's WomEn's Conference, the Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce Charitable Foundation will be awarding four - $500 scholarships to deserving female students attending high school in the Dakota County Region. To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must currently attend a local high school in Districts 191, 192, 196, and 197; graduate in June 2014; and committed to full-time attendance at a post-secondary institution. The application deadline is February 2, 2015. Click here to download the form.

 

Scholarship recipients will be notified no later than February 13, 2015 and should plan to attend the WomEn's Conference on the afternoon of Thursday, March 12, 2015.  Additional details to follow.                                                  

 

Scholarship Requirements:

  • Attendance at a local high school within Districts 191, 192, 196 and 197; and
  • Graduation in June 2015; and
  • Committed to full-time attendance at post-secondary institution.

Board to Consider Top Legislative Priorities

 

Your Chamber's Board of Directors will be meeting tomorrow to review the recommendations of the Government Affairs Committee on the top legislative priorities for 2015.  These issues include:

  • Personal Income Tax: Reduce tax burdens for pass-through entities
  • Workforce:  Produce graduates in workforce demand areas
  • Health Care: Enact practical reforms to MNsure
  • Transportation:  Build business community consensus on a 2015 policy
    • Workers' Compensation Reform
    • Minimum Wage:  Opposition to Automatic Escalator

 

Final policy information will be available later this week and included on your Chamber's website and the December 22 issue of Weekly Update.  

DCR Introduces First Ever Speed Networking Luncheon

Introducing: Speed networking! This unique style luncheon is a great place to share your story with other local business representatives. Luncheon participants have the opportunity to pitch their business to decision makers from area businesses/other DCR Chamber members in a fast and fun networking atmosphere. The lunch is structured in a rotational format, which allows participants to network with many different people in a short amount of time. So come prepared to promote your business, make new contacts, and meet new people. Bring plenty of business cards! 

Seating is limited, so participants are encouraged to RSVP quickly.Deadline to register is January 5! Only one representative from each company may attend. All participants must be a current member of The DCR Chamber. Click here to register. 
DCR and Committee Begin Planning for 2015 WomEn's Conference

It's that time again!The DCR Chamber is pleased to announce the return of the 5th annual WomEn's Conference on March 12, 2015 at the Lost Spur Golf and Event Center in Eagan. Our WomEn's Conference Committee, Chaired by Lisa Franxman from Anchor Bank, Farmington, has been assembled and is comprised of 14 hardworking women who will work over the coming months to make this a great event. This annual event is sure to be Energizing, Educational & Empowering, with nationally renowned speakers and topics that will help you develop personally and professionally.
