DCR Chamber Membership Directory to Be Released in January

The 2015 DCR Chamber Membership and Resource Guide will feature over 150 pages of information and 10 special sections that showcase member businesses, services, activities, cultural arts and other useful information. Hard-to-find data includes the area's public officials, demographics, economic outlook, parks and colleges, clubs and organizations, and more - all in one useful booklet. The Chamber Directory is a valuable resource to both newcomers and long time residents alike. The next time you do business with other Chamber members, let them know- this will increase awareness of their Chamber benefits, as well as create a stronger bond between DCR Chamber members. Rather than doing business with strangers, trust the Chamber to have the most up-to-date list of businesses in the area that will serve all your needs. Keep your Chamber Directory on your desk and you'll end up using it frequently as a source for new products and services; and easy access to the numbers of your friends, colleagues and business contacts. Keep an eye out for the 2015 Membership and Resource Guide!
Committed to business... for YOU.

2015 Legislative Priorities:  A Work in Progress

Over the next 30 days, the final touches will be put on the 2015 Legislative Priorities.  For many years, your Chamber has been part of the Minnesota Chambers Federation - a coalition of local chambers led by the Minnesota, to work together in agreement of statewide priorities for the business community.  Through conversations, focus groups, policy meetings, Grow Minnesota visits, surveys and more, local chambers and the state Chamber develop policies in support of a health business climate to ensure businesses have every opportunity to compete, expand and grow jobs.  To date, preliminary policies have been developed in the areas of personal income tax, workforce development, health care costs, transportation, and labor issues.

Following final input and review by the Federation partners, these policies will move forward to the respective Government Affairs Committees and Boards of Directors.  If you would like further information and input on any of these policies or others impacting your business, please contact Vicki Stute.

Looking Forward: Forecasting Future Job Trends
MN Department of Employment and Economic Development

As we enter into 2015, it's important to look back on both our successes and struggles regarding workforce issues. The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development has released data that we hope you find useful and informative as we collective try to move forward in workforce development.

-Minnesota's economy will grow by 13%, or 368,000 new jobs, between 2010 and 2020. 55%, or 202,060 new jobs within the metro region.
-Over 663,000 new workers will be needed to take jobs left vacant through retirements and replacements. 392,050 replacement workers will be needed in the metro region.
-Employment changes depend on the demand for goods and services, productivity advances, technological innovations, and shifts in business practices.

Here are some resources to help you find more information about workforce trends and data:
Get Budget Connected with Virtual Open House

Understanding where your City tax dollars go is important, but coming to City Hall to ask questions and learn about the budget is something few people have time or interest in doing. That's why the City of Eagan created its Budget Connect Virtual Open House. Through the use of social media, e-mail, voicemail and text messaging citizens can ask their budget questions and get answers during a live cable program on Monday, November 17, from 7 to 8 p.m. on Eagan-TV Channel 20.

Citizens are encouraged to ask questions during the program or in advance by submitting through www.facebook.com/cityofeagan, tweeting to @cityofeagan, e-mailing webmaster@cityofeagan.com, texting to (651) 337-9079 or leaving a voicemail at (651) 675-5074. Then people can watch live on Eagan-TV Channel 20 or stream the program live at www.cityofeagan.com/watchvideos to hear the answer to their questions. The Mayor and staff will answer as many questions as time allows during the program. Click here for more information.
