Did you know? A Harvest Moon is Forming!

This Tuesday, September 23 will be a Harvest Moon, which is a bright orange moon that is named for the harvest season when farmers begin gathering their crops. It is defined as "The full moon that appears nearest to the Autumnal Equinox." The Harvest Moon will be bigger and appear brighter than usual, because the moon turns full less than 24 hours after reaching lunar perigee - the moons closest point to earth. Check the sky at about 10:30 to check out this beautiful sight! Source: http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2014/09/08/there-is-something-special-going-on-in-the-sky-tonight-the-harvest-moon/
