Robert Street Work Session Underway

Will your West St. Paul business impacted by street reconstruction along Robert Street?  On Monday, June 9, WSP's City Council will be conducting a work session beginning at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall to review the streetscape recommendations and plans for reconstruction.  The City Council is very interested in creating a welcoming and unique environment, which is scheduled to occur over the next three years. The hope is to create an environment that is safe, convenient, more walkable and attractive for existing and new investment in businesses/services and housing that meets the current and future needs of the community.  However, several existing businesses may be impacted by the proposed changes, which may be financial, visibility, and access limitations.

Plan to attend so that you can learn more about the proposed plan and provide input into this important process.  An open house in late June is also being planned for public comment.   Watch for further information.

DCR Chamber Intern/Mentorship Program

Weekly Blog: Kristen Howland

Networking is a great way to meet other people and it's important to leave a lasting impression on them- but it's more important that it is a good impression!  Here are a few do's and don't's to keep in mind while networking.

Don't:

-          Show up late                    -          Wait for someone to approach you

-          Forget your manners        -          Talk about yourself too much

-          Be all business                   -          Overstay your welcome

-          Sell yourself too hard        -          Trash products or services by name (or at all)

Do:

-          Follow up (48 hours)         -          Offer the first lead

-          Be prepared                     -          Bring business cards

-          Network everywhere, not just networking events

These networking tips may seem small, but they have a big impact on what kind of impression you make.  Employ these techniques during your next networking event or in your every-day life.
