DCR Chamber Intern/Mentorship Program
Weekly Blog: Kristen Howland
Hi Chamber Members! My name is Kristen Howland and I am the new intern at the DCR Chamber. I am currently a junior at Eagan High School and I am involved in many activities inside and outside of school. Inside of school, I am involved in Student Government, Interact Club, Unity Club, National Honor Society, Junior Varsity Golf, and the Mentor Program. I am participating in this internship through EHS's Mentor Program. Mentor is a career development class that goes beyond the classroom walls and into the business world through internships with real businesses. Because of this internship at the DCR Chamber, I am experiencing the business world firsthand by working on exciting projects like the Golf Classic, ChamberNet groups, and more.

Last week's answer... The poll was split 50/50, but ultimately the correct answer was United States and Canada. These two countries are the only ones who do not recognize May Day as a holiday.
Happy Cinco De Mayo!
Cinco de Mayo is seen as a day to celebrate the culture, achievements and experiences of people with a Mexican background who live in the United States. There is a large commercial element to the day, with businesses promoting Mexican services and goods, particularly food, drinks and music. Other aspects of the day center around traditional symbols of Mexican life, such as the Virgin de Guadalupe, and Mexican-Americans who have achieved fame, fortune and influence in the United States.
