Dynamic Sign Ordinance: Advocate for an Amendment

Last Tuesday, Eagan's Planning Commission voted unanimously in favor of modifying the Dynamic Sign Ordinance to allow for an increase in the frequency rate of change.  Currently the rate of change allowed for businesses is once every 20 minutes.  Once approved by Eagan's City Council on May 5, the rate of change allowed will be once every 60 seconds.  Your Chamber has advocated for an ordinance amendment since last Fall as it believes a greater frequency will allow businesses to utilize this technology and improve its marketing and messaging capabilities.

Legislative Updates from Your Chamber

Your Chamber continues to advocate on a number of issues important to business during the 2014 Legislative Session.  With legislators returning from their holiday break, several bills have passed through the House and Senate and now sit within conference committee.  We continue to watch and engage in:

Second Omnibus Tax Bill - HF 3176, Status: Currently resides in conference committee

Women's Economic Security Act - HF 2536, SF2050; Status:  Currently resides in conference committee.  Chamber's preference to Senate language

Environmental Permitting Bill - HF1133, SF1027; Chamber advocates to change tiered level from 150 days to 90 and 40 days

Solid Waste Recycling Provisions - HF2564, SF2384

Transportation - Continue to advocate for 5% efficiency savings with FY15 budget

Bonding Bill - No movement from either legislative body

For further information on any of these and other business-related issues, contact the Chamber at 651.452.9872.

As a candidate for State Representative, I welcome the opportunity to engage with the business community in my home district, 51B (eastern Eagan), as well as the greater Dakota County region.  If elected, I will be a strong advocate in the legislature for businesses, both small and large, by championing policies that promote economic growth and create an environment in which businesses can flourish. I support lowering taxes on individuals and businesses, streamlining the permitting process, eliminating unnecessary regulations, investing in our future workforce, and allocating transportation dollars to provide the greatest return on investment. Please contact me to share your concerns.
