Cybersecurity: A Growing Corporate Threat

Tony Leng, Managing Director and leader in the Technology practice at Diversified Search who was recently named to the Hunt Scanlon Cyber 20, knows well the cybersecurity risks and leadership challenges that organizations face today. He says that turnover can be high for many cybersecurity roles, and supply and demand is a major consideration. “There are not many of these folks out there who are operating at the top level,” he explains. “There are some. What you find is that they get poached from one firm to the other.” Recently, Diversified recruited a head of cybersecurity risk management for a major West Coast utility, a CISO for a major healthcare provider in the Northeast, and a CISO for a Fortune 200 consumer products company.

Hugo Fueglein, Managing Director and leader of the CIO and IT Management practices at Diversified, is particularly concerned about cybersecurity in the industrial manufacturing sector, where he has said operations will become increasingly susceptible to cyber-attack. According to Fueglein, “We are already seeing breeches in consumer oriented settings, products and environments. But the bigger cybersecurity challenge looms in lT, and this will likely occur in industrial and manufacturing environments.” He has written a white paper on this subject which can be read by clicking below.

Diversity's Bottom Line Impact

Lauren Smith

Recently, Managing Director Lauren Smith, located in Diversified’s Miami office, talked with the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce about how diversity in a corporation can have a bottom line impact. Smith said, “We have found that companies can improve their business results by casting a wider net and being purposeful about getting a variety of unique perspectives into the room. Last year, McKinsey published a study that said that ethnically diverse companies are 35% more likely to outperform competitors and gender-diverse companies are 15% more likely to outperform competitors. Smart organizations are paying more attention to diversity as they seek to be able to respond to the changes in demographics, markets and competition.”

Diversified Insights on US Telecommunications

John Keller

Michel Deschapelles

“The mobile telecom sector today is nothing if not dynamic,” according to Michel Deschapelles and John Keller. Amid this connection revolution, many telecom companies recognize the need to move away from counting new subscribers and instead refocus on new products and services as a path to sustainable profit margins. This will require refreshed leadership teams with the strategic vision to identify and investigate new avenues for growth and customer service.
Successfully navigating the business transformation demanded by the telecom markets today may require not only business restructuring for traditional telecom companies, but also a cultural transformation. Is the right leadership in place as this occurs? Click below to read their white paper on telecomm leadership.
