KHC Receives HUD Housing Grant

Federal housing officials have awarded grants aimed at helping Kentuckians with their housing needs and preventing foreclosure. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) says the $241,866 in grants will support five housing counseling organizations in Kentucky.

The bulk of the money, $195,558, will go to Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC), with the remaining funds going to two groups in Bowling Green and programs in Campbellsville and Gray.

HUD says the housing counseling grants will help people make more informed housing choices or help people keep their current homes. Regional agencies distribute much of the grant funding to community-based organizations that assist low- and moderate-income families to improve their housing conditions.

Credit Score Update

Update from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) regarding credit scores and reports through nonprofit counselors:
"Nonprofit organizations that offer credit counseling, housing counseling, and other financial counseling services buy credit reports and scores for the consumers they serve. These reports and scores help counselors engage in constructive conversations with their clients about steps the clients can take to improve their financial situation. Millions of consumers will now be able to receive the credit scores and credit reports that nonprofit credit counselors purchase on their behalf."
