Speaker Spotlight
 The first featured speaker is Laura Gottesdiener, who is an investigative journalist and author of A Dream Foreclosed: Black America and the Fight for a Place to Call Home, which was published in 2013. Her work has appeared in Al Jazeera, Rolling Stone, Mother Jones, Playboy, Guernica, Ms. magazine, Tom Dispatch, the Arizona Republic, and other publications. She has been an invited speaker at universities including Columbia University, New York University, the City University of New York Graduate Center, and the University of Chicago, as well as at policy panels hosted by the Center for American Progress and the Congressional Black Caucus. She has appeared on MSNBC and Democracy Now! to speak about the 2008 economic crisis, lending discrimination, and the current housing recovery. She earned a B.A. in literature from Yale University.

Call for Entries
KHC Annual Housing Awards recognize innovative techniques and solutions that meet the affordable housing needs of Kentuckians. All housing partners who do business with Kentucky Housing Corporation are eligible to enter the KHC Annual Housing Awards in four award categories:
- Innovative Solutions: Homeless--This award is presented to an organization providing innovative strategies and solutions to end homelessness in Kentucky.
- Innovative Solutions: Energy Efficiency--This award is presented to an organization providing innovative strategies to improve energy efficiency in Kentucky homes.
- Innovative Solutions: Housing Preservation--This award is presented to a home building organization providing innovative strategies for the preservation of affordable housing.
- Innovative Solutions: Affordable Housing--This award is presented to an organization providing innovative affordable housing solutions.
Entries will be judged on planning/content, innovation, technical excellence, and results. Programs, projects, or practices must have been operational by December 31, 2014. Improvements in existing programs, projects, or practices are eligible. Partners may not submit the same entry to multiple categories.
All entries must be received electronically by Monday, February 2, 2015, at conference@kyhousing.org. Award winners will be invited to share more information about innovative, award-winning initiatives at the conference so others can learn how to replicate their winning ideas.
