The other,

reserved,

no less learned,

a writer.

Two friends  

who worked  

side  

by  

side  

to unravel mystery.

The one,

firm in conviction,

feverishly driven,

occasionally dismissive.

The other,

content to "be with."

The other, the shadow.

a trusted confidante,

an experienced physician,

a colorful chronicler of their adventures.
