Two faithful friends.
The one,
brilliant,
with keen powers of observation,
a master of inductive reasoning.
The other,
reserved,
no less learned,
a writer.
Two friends
who worked
side
by
side
to unravel mystery.
The one,
firm in conviction,
feverishly driven,
occasionally dismissive.
The other,
content to "be with."
The one, the image.
The other, the shadow.
But though the shadow,
a traveling companion,
a trusted confidante,
an experienced physician,
a colorful chronicler of their adventures.
Two faithful friends.
What two figures from the literary world might be described in this prose? (Hint: one wore a deerstalker cap.)
What two figures from the The Divine Narrative of scripture might be described in this prose?(Hint: one wrote the New Testament book of Acts.)
Might this be just one more example of how, consciously or not, the greatest stories in literary history often have their ground in the Master Storyteller's book of scripture?
