Light, Life, and Love
A poem of John the apostle
|
At the end of the day,
The lone apostle did write
Of Light, Life, and Love,
Of creation set right.
Into a womb of darkness and damp,
Into a world again formless and nil,
Light pierced the night,
Truth and grace to reveal.
At the tomb of a friend--alone and afraid--
Death taunted his spirit and so he did weep.
But Life summoned his strength; he triumphantly cried,
"Come forth unto Life; arise from your sleep!"
This is the message we've heard from above, God is love.
--The message of heav'n and earth reconciled.
Love has made known the God no one had seen.
To know and to be Love is--for his own--his foremost desire.
At the end of the day,
The lone apostle did write
Of Spirit, Son, and Father,
Of creation set right.
