YOU, the Homeowner, are the reason we are here. Our staff at the IronOaks Fitness Center is here to serve you in every way possible. In our large city there are numerous health clubs, workout studios, and Recreation Centers that we have access to within driving distance. The following important items set us apart from other centers.

IronOaks Tennis Club hosts the 2015 USTA Clay Court Slam

The USTA Clay Court Slam tournament went off without a hitch in September. With tournament director, John Radcliffe at the helm, the tournament brought in 80 athletes ages 35-85 years old. Players came from Yuma, Tucson, Sedona, Prescott, Scottsdale, Tempe, Buckeye, Phoenix, Mesa and Chandler to provide spectators with some great matches to watch.

Pickleball Fall/Winter Schedule and October Rating Clinic 

The Pickleball Organized Play schedule for Fall/Winter/Spring has been sent out to the Pickleball members. If you have not received this schedule, please email Jenny at jbrowne@slhoa3.com. There is also a Pickleball handbook available for our members. The handbook reminds players how to sign up for Organized Play and provides guidelines for all members to follow. If you would like a copy of this handbook, please email Jenny or stop by the front desk to pick up a copy.

The Pickleball Rating Clinic will be held Sunday, October 25, 2015, 9:00 am - Noon. Please email Bev Krueger at bevjank@aol.com if you need to be rated for the first time OR if you feel like you have improved enough to go to the next level. Please email your name, your current rating and also the rating that you would like to test for. The
week

IOTC Multi-Club October Social

The IOTC will be hosting a multi-club social on Saturday, October 17, 2015. The Social starts at 7:30 am and includes breakfast and lunch. If you are interested in participating, please sign up on the bulletin board located on the IronOaks Fitness and Racquet Center patio or email jbrowne@slhoa3.com. We will need your name, the event you would like to play (men, women or mixed doubles -1 or 2), your level and any time restrictions. RSVP by 10/13.
 
 
Tennis Center to host October Tennis Social   
Kwong and Jenny invite all tennis players to their "Season Opener" to be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. A new Mix and Match game will be introduced and played from 10:30 am - Noon. We will then enjoy lunch on the patio. Come join us for a fun morning of tennis and then catch up with your friends for lunch! Balls and food provided. $6.00 per person should be paid at the front desk. The sign-up sheet will be available in the lobby by October 9, 2015. Please also mark your calendars for our November 23rd and December 21st afternoon socials.
 
Sun Lakes Pickleball Club at IronOaks Social

The SLPC will be hosting their first Social of the season on October 31, 2015. This will be a fun, mix and match Halloween event. Mark your calendars, look for sign-up sheets in the next two weeks, and get ready for a great day!



Fitness, Racquet and Pickleball Sign-Up Event

The Fitness, Racquet and Picklelball sign-up times have been rescheduled for:

Wednesday, October 7, 2015, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm
Friday, October 9, 2015, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm

Please bring your homeowner card with you when signing up. If you are unable to attend the sign-up event, please see a Front Desk Team member at your convenience.
 
Water Fitness 
Increase Cardiovascular fitness and strength while having fun in the sun. Time will fly while following the instructor in movements to get the heart pumping. Noodles and aqua dumbbells will be used to increase strength.

SilverSneakers® Splash
This Silver Sneakers water exercise class, is a fun, refreshing, non-impact workout using a Silver Sneakers kickboard for stability and balance. You don't need to know how to swim. All fitness members are welcome.
Saturday: 9:00 am

All classes are held in the IronOaks Fitness Center Pool. Membership to the Fitness Center is required. Please bring a bathing suit and towel.

Sun Lakes Senior Softball Association

Registration for senior softball in Sun Lakes has begun for men interested in league and recreational play, and women interested in league play. Men's league play begins Tuesday October 27th; women's play begins in January. Recreational games continue throughout the year on Mondays and Saturdays from November through April and Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from May through October. Games are played at the Field of Dreams on Old Price Road just outside the Mossy Creek gate in Oakwood.

To register, IronOaks residents should go to the Oakwood Fitness Center. You will need your homeowner's card. Cash, check or credit card is accepted. Non-residents will need to first stop at the HOA Security Office to obtain, at no charge, a Non-Resident Homeowner's card. This office is directly across from the Fitness Center on Oakwood Blvd. Bring a copy of your contract to the Field of Dreams on any Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday morning in order to register with the Sun Lakes Senior Softball Association between 7:00 and 9:30 a.m.
At this time men's league play is limited to 77 players on seven teams. The number of teams will increase if the number of registrants warrants that growth. Late registrants will be placed on a substitution list and will be added to a team roster as soon possible.

Upcoming Workshops
Beginners Free-weights Workshop

Tuesday, October 13th 9:30 am, Thursday, October 15th 10:00 am

If you aren't familiar with the free-weights, this workshop is a great way to learn from a trained professional how to safely and effectively incorporate this type of training. Free-weights provide numerous benefits that include improved strength, balance, and posture. Using free-weights can also help you lose weight! This is a great opportunity to learn how to safely use free-weights and get the most potential out of your workouts. This class is geared towards beginners and those who have not used free-weights recently and need a refresher.



IOFC Offers SilverSneakers®, and Silver&Fit® Programs
 


If your Medicare insurance coverage offers the benefit of SilverSneakers® or Silver&Fit®, the IronOaks Fitness Center is an authorized facility for both of those healthy aging programs. Included in this type membership is the use of the fitness center, any group fitness classes including those sponsored by SilverSneakers® and Silver&Fit®, and use of the Center's lap pool and spa. Racquet sports are available by a separate paid membership.

To determine if you are eligible for either program, contact the customer service department of your Medicare Supplement or Advantage provider to see if coverage is offered. Additionally, some insurance companies, such as Cigna, will reimburse their insureds for health club memberships. If you find you are eligible for either program, please contact Cindy DeMaght at (480) 317-3657 for enrollment assistance.
              

CIGNA MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT SOLUTIONS TO JOIN SILVER&FIT®

Effective July 1, 2015, Cigna Medicare Supplement Solutions will offer the ASH Silver&Fit® program to their Medicare Supplement members. Cigna Medicare Supplement Solutions requires the members to pay a $25 Annual Member Fee to Ash Fitness prior to beginning their membership at IronOaks Fitness Center. Eligible Cigna members may present their enrollment letter or a Cigna Medicare Supplement Solution ID card to the Front Desk at the Fitness Center to begin the activation process.
