Something New Is Coming To IronOaks

As you are driving around you  may  notice some new poles with a plastic box attached. IronOaks is beginning the distribution of a monthly paper news letter.  Watch for the August issue which will be available soon.  The boxes are located at the unmanned gates, on some golf cart paths, near some of the facilities and, of course, there will be copies at the clubhouses.
Let us know what you think. We welcome any suggestions.

OAKWOOD NORTH WALL

IRONOAKS has had numerous complaints from INTEL about homeowners throwing trash and landscape trimmings over the wall that separates homeowners' property from INTEL property. Some homeowners have gone so far as to knock holes in the wall in order to drain their pools. INTEL has asked us to try and put a stop to this. They have their own landscape company that maintains their property along that wall.

In light of this, we will be starting a weekly Patrol along that wall, by driving our Patrol Car down the INTEL road. We have aerial views of all the properties along the wall from GOOGLE EARTH and will send written notifications to violators. In accordance with the Rules and Regulations, the first notification will be a WARNING. The second and any subsequent notifications will result in a FINE levied against the homeowner.

Please do not violate our "good neighbor" policies, and help keep the Community clean.

Golf Maintenance Update

Golf Course Maintenance Report

July 2015

We are officially into Bermuda growing weather! The heat and the humidity are in full force. We are hoping for a good amount of rain this monsoon season as rain is a good source of natural fertilizer. The clean rain water leaches into the soil and releases nutrients that leach the salts from the soil. Although the heat and humidity are difficult and uncomfortable to work and play in, the Bermuda loves it!

Some golfers have expressed concerns regarding the condition of the Palms course. I am going to address those issues and explain why the course is currently not in the best shape. When the renovation last year was completed, the turf was stressed. This was due to the lack of water and stress from the major "surgery" that was done on the course with the renovations.

With the Bermuda as stressed as it was after the renovation, we dried it down even more, then scalped it and over seeded it. The over seed went really well, but then it went into dormancy with no energy. When the rye grass dies we are left with the Bermuda that is there. This is the reason that there are areas that appear "weak". The good news is that the Bermuda is there, it just needs more help.

The plan is to increase irrigation run times, spray soil amendments and wetting agents and apply granular fertilizer. With this heat and humidity, the weak areas will start filling in soon. It will take some time as we are dealing with a living and breathing golf course. I have learned a lot through the renovation process on the Palms, and will try my best to make sure that we don't have these same problems on the Lakes course next year.

IronOaks Dress Codes

  wooden-hangers2.jpg

Were you aware that our facilities have dress codes? None of the dress codes are burdensome, however, they do help to maintain a pleasant environment for all.

At the Fitness Center participants are asked to wear a

t-shirt or conservative tank top, workout style shorts or pants and gym shoes that are securely fastened to the foot are required at all times in the fitness room.

Golfers must dress modestly and appropriately at all times while on the courses. For men, shirts with collars, turtlenecks or mock turtlenecks are required. Denims are not permitted. Soft spikes are required at all times on the courses.

Swimwear is not permitted in the restaurants. Tennis clothes are acceptable until 4:00 pm. Golf shoes can cause the wearer to slip, so if worn in the restaurants, the wearer assumes the risk. Resort casual is required in the Clubhouse dining room from 4:00 pm until closing and for the Sunday Buffet.

Mosquito Alert

         Unwanted

              ( dead or alive)

           Mosquitoes

There have been some reports of mosquito activity around IronOaks. These calls have been localized, which tells your HOA staff these insects are coming from water features, pools and potted plants containing standing water. This sounds harsh, however, all water areas on IronOaks common property, including the golf courses, are void of mosquito larva.

We're coming to you, for help to rid us of this insect which can potentially be a health hazard. All of us need to police our property for standing water or untreated water features. While our staff is on the lookout for breeding sites, it's not possible to see behind block walls that surround some homes.

If you see a potential hazard in a fellow neighbor's yard, we ask you to please speak with them about it. If you do not feel comfortable or this person is away, please generate a comment card or contact the IronOaks Facilities dept.

Strange as it may sound, a small swimming pool can generate 4000 mosquitoes per night. A bird bath is said to generate 200 per night. A pet's water dish around 20 per night. These insects will generally breed and stay near the location they were born. The mosquito's life cycle is not long.  If we remove the breeding site they will either die off, or go elsewhere looking for a new home where they can breed.

Water Feature Care

Maintain A Healthy Water Feature

Attention all homeowners who have a water feature in their yard. At this time of the year, it is important to keep the water running and clean. Dropping a chlorine tablet into the water will disinfect it. After the monsoon rains, adding some water clarifier will help to break up the dirt and make it easier for your pump's filter to remove the dirt from the water and restore water clarity.
