The Buildings and Grounds Committee held their regular monthly meeting on February 17, 2015. The Committee discussed project proposal requests and the status or action to be taken on each.

Buildings and Grounds Chair, Gene McIntyre, announced that the only sub-committee of Buildings and Grounds would be Risk Management as they have a unique function that stands alone. The Risk Management sub-committee lead will report to the Buildings and Grounds Committee. Risk Management sub-committee members may attend Buildings and Grounds regular monthly meetings. Conservation Committee, Image Committee (Common Area), and Properties Committee will be combined as functions of Buildings and Grounds.

A Message From Patrol

Pet Courtesy

Please be considerate and pick up after your pet. Your neighbors will appreciate it, the grounds and maintenance crew will appreciate it, and you will too when you go out for a walk! Try to refrain from walking your pet in the common areas that are adjacent to homes. If you have visitors that bring their pets with them, please inform them of the rules regarding pet clean-up.

You may have noticed that there are a number of cats roaming in the area. Please remember that ALL PETS are to be leashed and under control when in the common area.

If you have a cat, please keep it in the house, and do not let it roam. We still have coyotes in the area, and they will attack anything that runs or is in their area. If you are leaving for the summer, please take your pets with you. Do not leave them to fend for themselves while you are away.

South Dobson Gate Repairs

Purchase orders have been released to three different contractors in order that the South Dobson Gate can be repaired as quickly as possible. Concrete work will started Wednesday, February 25, 2015, and should be completed by Saturday, February 28, 2015.

The electrical contractor will start his work on Monday, March 2, 2015. New wires have to be pulled from the meter, which is located almost across from the Catholic Church. At that point, all new electrical equipment will be installed. Once that is done, and we hope it won't take more than a week, the gate technician will start to re-install all the gate equipment. That should take no more than a day. We anticipate the gate will re-open no later than March 10, 2015.

THEY JUST KEEP COMING

No matter what you do you will never completely prevent weed growth, HOWEVER, you can keep them from getting deeply established and spreading. Keep an eye out around your property, and when you see a weed pull it before it can go to seed. Did you know a single dandelion can produce over 15,000 seeds each year? The Architectural Landscape Department thanks you for helping to keep our wonderful community beautiful

A Message From Facilities

Wednesday Afternoon Occurrence

Flooding at the intersection of Alma School Road and Champagne Drive occurred.
A Pima Utilities Well site, located in the area, sustained a break down that poured water out on to Alma School Road. The problem was quickly rectified.

Pima Utilities Work Schedule On EJ Robson Pump Station

Pima's proposed work schedule will begin Tuesday, March 10, 2015 and last until Thursday, March 12, 2015. This work will interrupt the typical traffic flow on EJ Robson just inside the security gate at Riggs Road. EJ Robson will not have to be closed, however, there will be lane limitations in both directions. The pump station is located on the west side of EJ Robson, however, access through a man hole cover in the middle of EJ  Robson is required.

Ironwood Halley and Voax Pool  Natural Gas Line Update

We have been in constant communication with Southwest Gas regarding the gas service to both pool locations. Last week they said the collection of data and infrastructure from other utility companies has been completed so that their engineering department can decide the path of the new gas lines. Today, they are requesting financial information regarding their finalized proposal to install new natural gas service to each pool location.

Your HOA staff and Board of Directors have remained diligent seeking updated information from Southwest Gas on a daily basis. Until today, it wasn't promising.  During our last conversation, Southwest said construction could begin as soon as the last week in March. However, they would not estimate the length of time it will take for completion. Southwest Gas has pushed this project out since December of 2014. It is our hope, we can heat the pools as soon as the month of April.

Waterfall feature at the Halley gate in Ironwood

We are currently refilling the Halley lake to restart the waterfall feature at the Halley gate in Ironwood.  Pima water utilities stated it will take a week to complete.  We are removing the blue paint from the bowls of the water feature. The fountain will be re-started briefly to ensure the operating conditions are perfect since the re-pipe was just completed .

In addition to refilling the lake, we will also be placing the floating fountain back in its location. The replumb of the pipes was necessary due to pipe breakage beneath the waterfall last year. At one time the waterfall was a self-contained water feature, using 60,000 gallons of tap water per month, sometimes more during the summer months. Being self-contained also added more maintenance cost to remove debris.  Now we will start drawing water from the lake and returning the water to the lake. This will assist in oxygenating the lake water, and less maintenance will be necessary to assist in the lake water clarity.

Modifications to the appearance of the waterfall and monument sign are still in the decision    making process through a Project Request submitted to the BOD.

Art At The Lakes Show and Sale will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at Cottonwood Lake on Brentwood Drive in Cottonwood. There will be over eighty artists displaying and selling their work. A raffle table with gift baskets, gift certificates, dinners out and many other items will be available.  You will also be able to enjoy the music of the Dry Heat Pickers, watch the young ones enjoy the creative activity table, and of course, enjoy the great food prepared by our Fire Department.

The monies generated from the sale go the Firemen Relief Fund which assists local residents and surrounding communities with electric bills, prescriptions, financial problems, paying for eyeglasses and supports local charities. This fund, along with the 100 Club of Arizona, will also assist families after an accident or fire.
