Committee Meetings

Unit Captains

The monthly Unit Captains meeting was held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015. Board President, John Porter, reported that a tentative offer was presented to a candidate for the General Manager's position.

The Ad Hoc Park Development Committee gave a presentation. It is expected that the Ad Hoc Pickleball Committee will present their proposal at the March meeting. An engineer has been hired to obtain the information regarding parking issues, along with providing future parking suggestions. Mr. Porter updated the Unit Captains on the status of SRP, and stated that using the Gila River Reservation appears to be the most likely choice at the present time. A Food and Beverage advisory group consisting of Staff, Chef, Banquet Manager, Controller, and Homeowners with expertise in the Food and Beverage, has been created.

Communications Committee

The regular monthly Communications Committee meeting was held on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at the Oakwood Clubhouse Library. Topics discussed included how open and available IronOaks communication is to the homeowners, and ways to make communication more available. The Communications Department plans to launch a marketing campaign in the near future. Seven televisions are budgeted for 2015 to promote meeting schedules and events throughout the HOA in order to provide more availability of communication.

Committee members  solicited input from six other HOAs regarding their communication departments. It was determined the IronOaks' Communication Department is a step ahead of other HOA's, and doing a good job of offering information to the homeowners.

A Message From Patrol

IRONWOOD BURGLARY

Last week a burglary of a home in Ironwood on Tanglewood Drive was reported to the Chandler Police. The burglars entered the home through the garage window between the hours of 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. The only things missing were two wedding rings. The house was dusted for finger prints and pictures of the rings were borrowed by the police in order to identify them if they were found. Make sure that all of your doors and windows are secure.

TAX EVASION SCAM

One of our homeowners received a phone call from JAMES ANDERSON who represents himself as an IRS Inspector.  He calls from the number 804-496-1049.  He leaves a message telling you that there is a complaint against you for tax evasion, and a warrant may be issued for your arrest.  If you receive a call from this person, IT IS A SCAM.  You should report it to the Attorney General's Office at 602-903-3891.

PARKING ETIQUETTE                                           New

Parking spaces in and around the Oakwood Clubhouse are limited. To make the best use of these spaces, we all have to be aware of how we park our vehicles, whether they be golf carts, vans, cars or trucks. Many spaces are lined for both golf carts and cars. If you are in a golf cart, you are to park between the two, narrow lines making sure there is enough space for another cart to park next to you. If you are in a car, you park between the two widest lines. Most importantly, whatever type of vehicle you are in, stay between the appropriate lines and make sure you are parked straight.  It would also be helpful if people would car pool. One car takes up less space than two.

Do You Have Weeds?

A plant is often determined to be a "weed" when it has one or more of the following characteristics: (1) it has little or no value; (2) it grows rapidly and has ease of germination; (3) it is competitive with plants for space, light, water and nutrients.

Most everyone has "weeds" right now. Please do your part in helping eradicate these unsightly interlopers from your property. The ALC  office  appreciates your efforts in doing your part to keep IronOaks beautiful!!

Crack Sealing

This will affect all of Ironwood and sections of Oakwood

We will be performing Crack Sealing on the roads in the units listed below.

Please note: this is crack sealing not crack filling. After this process is completed, the fill material will not always be level with the surface of the road. This process will not affect any home owner related activities or appointments. This process moves along quickly and the roads can be driven on immediately once the contractor leaves the vicinity of your home. The locations where this process is being performed will receive a seal coat & re-stripe during late May/June of 2015.

Art At The Lakes Show and Sale will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at Cottonwood Lake on Brentwood Drive in Cottonwood. There will be over eighty artists displaying and selling their work. A raffle table with gift baskets, gift certificates, dinners out and many other items will be available.  You will also be able to enjoy the music of the Dry Heat Pickers, watch the young ones enjoy the creative activity table, and of course, enjoy the great food prepared by our Fire Department.

The monies generated from the sale go the Firemen Relief Fund which assists local residents and surrounding communities with electric bills, prescriptions, financial problems, paying for eyeglasses and supports local charities. This fund, along with the 100 Club of Arizona, will also assist families after an accident or fire.

What a great way to spend a Saturday. Beautiful art work, good food, entertainment  while helping a wonderful cause.
