Mother's Day is a complicated holiday.  Yet we have all been mothered by someone sometime.  The service will honor and celebrate motherhood and mothers.

Rev. Anthony Johnson's Acceptance Letter

Rev. Tony

Dear Unitarian Universalists of Clearwater,

I am pleased, honored, and excited to have been asked to serve as your interim minister.

What I learned speaking with your interim search team and your outgoing minister, what I read in your packet and on your website, and what I had already heard about you convinced me that, of all the congregations with whom I was speaking, yours was the most interesting and promising for me as an interim minister, with my particular set of skills and interests.

Yours is a healthy congregation, but your long tenured and beloved minister is leaving. This transition requires attention. While you congratulate him on his move, you also mourn your loss of his leadership and care. You will need to learn how to be with a different minister and refine your vision with different ministerial leadership. You will need to prepare to call a new settled minister whose own vision of ministry is congruent with yours.

I find nothing more rewarding than facilitating a congregation's transition from one settled ministry to another - with all the exploration, challenge, and growth that this transition demands. I am passionately committed to Unitarian Universalism, to the health and growth of our congregations, and to our efficacy in building a world where Solidarity - the 21st century manifestation of Love - is real.

I look forward to starting my ministry with the Unitarian Universalists of Clearwater.

Yours,

Tony Johnson

Children's Religious Enrichment
Spirit of Life Logo

Hello friends! Please join our Religious Enrichment Program this Sunday as we develop friendships, learn more about Unitarian Universalism and have fun!

Our Nursery will keep our littlest UUs (ages 0-3) happy and busy with free play, music, and art.

Our Pre-K and Kindergarten class learn more about Mother's Day and make a special gift.

Our 1st-2nd class will explore the many paths to God and all around us. What is your spiritual path? Who are your guides?

Our 3rd-5th grade class will reflect upon their year and celebrate their time together.

Our Middle School group will have time for open discussion and reflection. The summer curriculum will be introduced.

Our Beacon youth group (for youth going into 8th grade - 12th grade) will have its first official meeting from 12-2pm. Lunch is not included so please bring a snack.

Are you looking for a way to recharge your spiritual batteries? Do you enjoy meaningful conversations and discussions? Do you like to have fun? Then consider sharing your life experiences and questions with the children and youth of our Religious Enrichment Program. Embrace teaching as a spiritual practice to gain a deeper understanding of your own faith development and Unitarian Universalism as a whole.

Please see Christine Pensa, our Religious Educator, after the worship service or email her for additional information:

The Hispanic outreach preschool project is about to begin its second summer. The program is an initiative of our Social Justice Council. Every Thursday morning for 1 ½  hours four members of the UUC and 6-10 children and their moms spend time reading stories, singing, making arts and crafts projects and just having fun! The goal of the program is to introduce English to young children from Spanish speaking homes and to introduce children age 2-4 to a group environment to get them ready for school.

Would you like to become part of this exciting outreach project? There is no experience necessary.
