Igniting the Community:  Sharing Our Stories

Eileen Senn

Weaving a New Chapter:  I've joined the UU Clearwater because I want to work and play with other rational, compassionate human beings.

Sheila Knaust

Finding My Holy Ground: The wisdom I am gaining in this community is serving me well in my journey.

We love to read your stories and share the inspiration you provide with others. Please don't be shy about sharing your story on the website.  We love reading about members of our congregation.  You know how much you enjoy hearing about the background of new members!  Give them the opportunity to get to know who you are!

Read the rest of their stories as well as other Stories.

Share your story so we can connect to what is important to you! We have set up a page on our website: Share, where you can write your story.

Open Issues:  Sunday, March 24
"UU 2012 Tour of Alaska"

They will share their experiences with us, along with photos of the spectacular north country, including Denali National Park, Fairbanks, Anchorage, the glaciers near Sitka and much more.... a fun visit to Alaska, if only vicariously.... an excellent program for any UU who might be interested next year.

9:30 in the Patio Room

Open Issues Needs You!

Who has a story to tell? Who knows someone who has a story, a passion, a specialty, a history that they can talk about? Whoever you are, you are WANTED at the Open Issues Forum. No topic is out of bounds, often it's about an unsettled issue. We encourage AGREEABLE disagreement, knowing that more is learned by considering different points of view. One of our goals is to learn more than we think we already know.

If you wish to participate please email John Chase.
Children's Religious Enrichment

Easter is just around the corner and we need volunteers to help with our Easter activities. Sign up this Sunday in the Social Hall.  Please return all stuffed eggs by this Sunday, March 24th.

Our Pre-K and Kindergarten class will learn more about Easter and have fun dyeing eggs.

Our 1st-2nd class will explore the concept of forgiveness and make puppets.

Our 3rd-5th grade class will continue their unit on Humanism and design a collage.

Our Middle School group will explore the pagan roots of Easter.

Our High School youth group (meets 12-1pm) will continue working on their Mothers' Day fundraising project.

Are you looking for a way to give back to your spiritual home? The Religious Enrichment program has many volunteer opportunities available, so please contact Christine Pensa.

Share the Plate Sunday

Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County has been selected for our March 24th Share the Plate. Habitat's unique and sensible formula makes it possible for limited-income households to own a home they can afford, with volunteer labor and local donations of money and materials. Habitat Pinellas builds and rehabilitates houses with the help of the homeowner families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with zero interest loans. In partnership with the community, they work toward their ultimate goal of eliminating substandard housing throughout the country. Won't you help by giving generously? For more info go to www.phfh.org.

Many new members cite a goal of "making new friends of like- minded people" as one of the goals they had when joining UUC. Why not supercharge that goal and make new friends from across the entire state of Florida! On Fri, April 12 thru Sun April 14, the Ft. Myers UU congregation will host the Florida District Annual Assembly & Business Meeting.

In addition to  great speakers, inspirational worship, and interactive workshops, there will be time to meet and make friends with UUs from all corners of the Florida District. On Fri, April 12 at 5pm, registration and a reception will kickoff the weekend, followed by a business meeting.

During that business meeting, there will be several awards presented. UUC proudly submitted three of our own family to be considered for the honors. See the award proposal for Joe and Ann Myers submitted for the Unsung Unitarian Universalist Award.  See the award proposal for Sue Boone submitted for the Florida District Lifetime Achievement Award.  (Barbara Bird was also nominated for the Media- Newsletter catagory for he wonderful work on this newsletter. KR)

Saturday morning starts with a worship service at 8:45 and is followed by a keynote presentation by Dr. Mark Hicks, a professor of Religious Education at Meadville/Lombard Theological School. In the afternoon, there will be several workshops to choose from followed by a closing worship service. A sock hop ice cream party will wrap up the evening. Sunday morning, delegates are invited to worship with the Ft Myers congregation as Reverend Allison Farnum speaks on "Bound for Glory."

Expand your horizons, both spiritually and with new friendships, by making plans to attend the district conference as a delegate from UUC.
