The Board of Trustees met on December 19th with many interesting agenda items including discussion of a second service, Google documents, Stewardship, Membership changes, and a Gifting Policy. Jenn Bouchie, Cindi Nohe and Rachel Christensen presented their work exploring a second service. The committee will survey members and potential members for interest in a weekday evening service alternating between high energy and contemplative. We look forward to hearing what members and potential members would like in a second service. Cassie Alderman demonstrated the potential impact Google documents can have in organizing and creating church documents. Cassie also showed the Board how Google documents can make sharing documents a 'snap'! Susan Hegner and Abhi Janamanchi shared the work of Pegotty Cooper and Bob Buesing who will create a Stewardship timeline. Stewardship will look a little different this year as we move away from the consecration model to include a more personal approach with home visits, cottage meetings, etc. The Board approved changes in membership including friends who have passed on and those who have moved. The Board continued work on a Gifting Policy that will create a smooth and consistent process for the congregation to accept gifts from members. As reported by board member Greg Smith. |

When I hear others' stories, I suddenly relate to them in a very different way. I have a new appreciation for what is important to them; for the challenges they may be encountering on their journey; and I discover ways in which I can connect them to other resources that may be just what they need to fulfill their purpose or to set their mission in motion! Everything we need to make our dreams reality can be found in our communities! Come and share your story so we can connect to what is important to you! We have set up a page on our website: Our Stories, where you can write your story. To read posted stories, go to Our Stories. For me, the UUC is about embracing our differences and learning from one another so that when we go "out there," we can connect with people as people instead of labels. I grew up in a town of 16,000 people in rural New England - all white Anglo-Saxon Protestants! I am always drawn to the "strays" - those individuals who are different, who aren't part of the pack. When we are different we have something in common with others who are different - and what a rich tapestry that weaves! Learning from others, sharing different perspectives, connecting through our curiosity about what matters to them; and creating a whole new context for living! Pegotty Cooper |

Khasi Hills School Memoir: Allison Snell
|
I have a wonderful memory of pulling up to the Margaret Barr school in a taxi and seeing all the children lined up in two rows waiting to greet us. They looked so cute in their blue uniforms and knee socks. We were given little corsages to wear and they put on a program for us. They seemed truly delighted to see us and welcome us. It was fun giving all of them scarves that were made for them by UUC members. We were able to meet some of the parents and talk to the teachers who really were dedicated to their jobs. I wish all of you could have the chance to see the school. It was a privilege for me to do so.

Thank you to all of you who have been bringing your food to our RCS Foodbox, located to the left as you enter the lobby of the church. We just delivered 284 pounds of food...enough for 190 meals! That's an average of 48 pounds a week! RCS has been suffering from a shortage of food and this is a needed addition. Thanks...and keep bringing that food.
Dates to save for March. On March 18th -19th the UU Legislative Ministry, Florida will be holding legislative days at Tallahasee. We would like to participate...and if enough of us want to go perhaps even rent a van. If you are interested, please sign up at the Social Justice Table.
March 5th -10th will be the CIW action to highlight their Fair Food Campaign - Details. We would like to have a presence there daily to fast with the workers and have as many people as possible be there on Saturday for the three mile procession to Publix Headquarters.
