"Judaism:  An Uneasy Covenant"

Rev. Marni Harmony

Rev. Abhi and Rev. Marni are switching pulpits on this Sunday.  On this morning after the first night of Hanukkah, Rev. Harmony will focus on some of the particular gifts of Judaism to her own life, including the idea of covenant, the Sabbath, and the richness of the stories that continually invite us to travel into the depths of what it means to be human.

Editor's 2¢

To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else, means to fight the hardest battle which any human being  can fight; and never stop fighting.

-- e.e. cummings

The average family income is below the poverty level, and the average parent education level is third grade.

RCMA wishes to extend its positive impact on students at the Wimauma Academyby adding the RCMA Leadership Academy, serving 132 students in grades six through eight.  The Academy opened in August and they need everything from mixing bowls, roasting pans, to uniforms, jumping ropes, school supplies & books.  Your donation will have a far reaching impact on these children.  Please give generously.

Above and Beyond Honoree: Eloise Hardman

One of the busiest and most effective volunteers in our midst has been selected as December's Above and Beyond Award Recipient, Eloise Hardman. Eloise currently leads our Community Builders Team.  In the last few months, she has developed a mentor program for new members that is off to a great start.  She is on the Leadership Coordination Group and the Membership Council.  She served on the Auction Steering Committee and kept track of all the donations in that very successful fund raiser.  In addition, Eloise is a Care Bear, assisting our members in need of support and good cheer.  And, she is a weekly office volunteer.  Needless to say, we have a great honoree in Eloise, and we thank her for her diligence and hard work on our behalf.

UUC Humanist Meeting
Humanist
Our next UUC Humanist meeting will be Sunday, December 16, at 12:30 in the Patio Room at the Unitarian Universalists of Clearwater church. The featured speaker is Bill Norsworthy who will be telling us about a new book entitled The Swerve. This book connects the dots of humanism from the ancient Greeks (e.g. Epicurus,) through Roman and Medieval Europe, to the Enlightenment. This will be a very interesting talk about the birth of rational empirical thought, its life, and growth. There will be plenty of time for Q & A and comments.
