PECO Open House-Thursday, September 18. Learn about PECO's Electric Reliability Improvement Plans

The meeting is set for Thursday, September 18th at 7 p.m. at Pennwood Middle School Auditorium, Pennwood Auditorium, 1523 Makefield Road, Yardley.
With the goal of reducing power outages and the time it takes to restore power after an unpreventable outage, PECO plans an additional $10 million in improvements to our Bucks County region.
- Enhanced tree trimming and vegetation removal along more than 43 miles of aerial lines throughout the area
- 17,700 feet of new aerial wire, including 8,300 feet of tree-resistant wire installed in targeted locations
- Advanced equipment and upgrades to existing devices to reduce the number of customers impacted when outages do occur
- 24 pieces of equipment to help isolate issues and restore service more quickly

Prevent Garage Fires with Annual Cleanup
Fire Marshal John C. Kernan urges residents to include their garage in an annual fall cleanup. That's because fire investigations reveal a direct correlation between cleanliness, organization, and fire safety.
Some effective ways to reduce the risk of a garage fire include putting flammables in containers in an outdoor shed away from your house, keeping a clear aisle to enter and exit all areas of your garage, checking for rodent infestations that lead to wire nibbling, and making sure you have a 1-hour fire rated door between your home and an attached garage.
Volunteer as a Firefighter
Welcome and Thanks to our 3 New Firefighters!
The Upper Makefield Fire Company in August welcomed three new volunteer firefighters, who completed more than 200 classroom hours to receive national certification as Firefighters Upper Makefield is proud to welcome Firefighters Paul Ahearn, Maxx Frysinger, and Jimmy Dollings!
The Bucks County Fire Chiefs and Firefighters Organization welcomes teens and adults to join regional training programs. Tip: This website describes the type of volunteers needed and posts some good safety videos for students living in dorms and older citizens living independently.
