#Giving Tuesday is November 27
Donate to the Iowa 4-H Foundation on #GivingTuesday.
It's the giving season's opening day! Retailers, charities, online organizations, individuals,  and more are coming together to create #GivingTuesday. This is a campaign to create a national day of giving at the start of the holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations. We hope you'll remember 4-H this holiday season!

#GivingTuesday is a day to prove that giving back to our communities is part of a great tradition of philanthropy and volunteerism that helps make this nation strong.
Join this event and invite others if you want to give back on Nov. 27!

Hagie Manufacturing Sponsors Recognition
More than 520 Iowa 4-H volunteers received 4-H volunteer recognition pins sponsored by Hagie Manufacturing this Fall. Nearly 10,000 volunteers across the state are the backbone of our organization and every year we recognize their accomplishments, contributions and dedication to making the best better.

Hagie Manufacturing has made this recognition possible this year. "As a fellow 4-H member, I have great appreciation for the positive influence and impact that the organization leaves on those it touches. I commend the Iowa 4-H Foundation for recognizing leaders who are committed to serving the 4-H youth," said Amber Kohlhass, Hagie brand manager.

On average, these recognition pins are presented every year:
50-year pin: 254          30-year pin:15
10-year pin: 121          35-year pin: 6
15-year pin: 65             40-year pin: 5
20-year pin:37              45-year pin: 1
25-year pin:16

Approximately 85 Iowa counties recognize their 4-H volunteers every year for their service years ending in 5 or 0. Pins are often presented to volunteers at end or year county awards banquets.
Dupont Pioneer Increases Seed Grants
Dupont Pioneer has increased support for 4-H Community Improvement Seed Grants for 2013. Maximum award amounts will increase from $250 to $500. Application deadline to county offices is Jan. 15, 2013. Updated application and information will be available soon.

"Dupont Pioneer is committed to helping Iowa 4-H youth learn leadership and organization skills by providing "Seed Grant" funds to 4-H clubs throughout Iowa. The Dupont Pioneer Community Improvement Seed Grant funds enable Iowa 4-H youth to develop, start, and complete a local improvement project for the benefit of the entire community," said Rob Vincent, Pioneer farm manager coordinator.

The objective of the Dupont Pioneer Seed Grants is to stimulate local 4-H clubs in Iowa to plan and carry out community improvement activities by providing "seed money" needed to make these projects successful.

Include 4-H in Year-End Giving
Dec 31
Don't forget to secure tax deductions for charitable gifts. Generally, you can deduct the full amount of monetary gifts donated to charity if you itemize your tax return. Gifts by mail must be postmarked no later than December 31 and credit card contributions must be charged by midnight (CST) on December 31. Landowner farmers should consider gifting grain instead of cash for more tax benefits. Donations of appreciated stock or real estate are some other alternatives to cash. Because everyone's tax situation is different, always consult with your tax adviser before making year-end charitable decisions.
