Lessons From Childhood
Jenny Lyon, Put On Your Power Clothes
Lesson 7:
Put On Your
Power Clothes

Sometimes we need to get in the zone.
A deep breath, a prayer, a lucky shirt, a keepsake treasure:  we use whatever it takes to prepare to set forth, follow our dreams, and fight the good fight.
And sometimes we need to put on our battle gear.

I remember when I first started volunteering at a day care nearly 20 years ago.  There was a two year old who wore his fireman's helmet and red cowboy boots every single day.  In his hat and boots, he knew he could conquer the world.

My daughter is into dressing up right now.
Going to the grocery store?:  Wear every necklace, bracelet, and bow you own. Watching a movie?:  Sport fairy wings and a paper crown.  Eating pop-sicles outside?:  Don a princess costume.
And it goes without saying, every task requires a magic wand

So, our kids' lesson to us?  Today, put on your power clothes, go forth, and conquer.
