Lessons From Childhood
Jenny Lyon, Dance
Lesson 8:  Dance

"Mommy, let's dance!," says my daughter, so happy she just has to move.

Never mind that dinner's on the stove, work needs polishing, and ten thousand chores clamor before bedtime.

We get up, let the music move us, swirl silk scarves into the the air, and watch their graceful fall.

The dog dances round us, getting the zooms.
We laugh, sing, and dance.

 "Again!" and "Again, Mommy!"

Twirling round and round, we savor the beauty, bliss, and miracle of being alive.

Today's lesson:  Never miss these moments of sheer joy.  Drop everything and dance with your child.

These are the days.

Quotable:

"at the still point, there the dance is. . . . .
Except for the point, the still point,
There would be no dance, and there is only the dance."
