P&P:  Meet The Judges

The IPCA is grateful again this year for the three wonderful people who are our Progress and Possibilities 2012 judges.
  • Libby Mills
  • Bettina Welker
  • Sage Bray
Libby Mills is a mixed-media polymer clay jewelry artist. Libby states on her website that "color, texture and shape captivate" her. She enjoys "exploring the contrast between textured and smooth, pattern and plain surface. Working in polymer clay allows her to play with these concepts". Adding elements in silver, copper and beadwork has opened up further avenues of exploration."

Bettina Welker is a graphic designer and has worked as a jewelry designer and polymer clay artist since 2003.  She is a co-founder of the German polymer clay guild Polyclaykunst.de and a member of several international polymer clay guilds. Since 2007, she has taught private classes in her home studio and all over Europe and in the U.S.  Bettina is also the author of two books Fine Jewelry and Unique Accessories from Polymer Clay and Polymer Clay Bracelets.

Sage Bray is an award winning polymer clay artist as well as the creator, author, and publisher of The Polymer Arts magazine, a print publication for professional and aspiring polymer clay artists.

Review: Terra Nova Exhibit
I visited the Racine Art Museum on Saturday, October 29, 2011, to see Terra Nova: Polymer Art at the Crossroads. I was there with three members of the Metro Milwaukee Polymer Clay Guild. The exhibit is breathtaking. To see polymer clay art displayed in a formal setting of a museum was amazing.

Polymer Book Receives Prestigious American Graphic Design Award
RAM gratefully acknowledges polymer artist and designer Jeffery Lloyd Dever and Dever Designs for their award-winning layout of the museum's book Terra Nova: Polymer Art at the Crossroads in the 49th Annual American Graphics Design Awards. From more than 9,000 entries worldwide, a small percentage of the design and communications projects were selected as winners by an independent panel of experts. Terra Nova was judged, "in a nutshell, exceptional."   .
