Warren Morrow's Legacy Lives OnA
February 15, 2013 will mark the one year anniversary of the passing of Coopera's founder and late CEO, Warren Morrow. Today, we remember Warren as a visionary credit union leader who had a tremendous impact on the Latino community and the credit union movement nationwide.

warrenIn his 34 years, Warren accomplished what many of us only dream of. By founding Coopera in 2006, Warren was pursuing a lifelong mission. In a 2008 Des Moines Register article he said, "Working to demonstrate the value of underserved and disenfranchised communities is a lifelong mission that will always motivate me."

Warren believed that credit unions were philosophically aligned with his vision and could be the ideal conduit to bring dignified financial services to Latinos nationwide. A vision Coopera continues to pursue today. As with any great leader, Warren showed us that no matter where you come from, it's possible to be successful by pursuing your passion and making a difference in the world. He taught credit unions to do the same.

While Warren may have left us, his spirit is being felt and his passion is being shared by more people than ever as his legacy lives on.

Our late founder would be thrilled to witness Coopera's growth, adding 12 new clients in as many months last year. He'd be inspired to see us chasing down our strategic objectives, knocking down hurdles and pursuing his vision with gusto. Thank you for taking a moment to remember Warren's life with us.

Boost Hispanic Growth with an Analysis of Your Membership
Coopera's Hispanic Membership Analysis (HMA) has allowed credit unions across the country to discover facts about their members leading to the development of Hispanic growth strategies aimed at increasing membership, revenue and loan volume.

Each HMA provides a picture of your total membership, establishing a baseline of the Hispanics being served and their impact to your bottom line. It shows:
  • Percentage of Hispanic members (English and Spanish-preferring), market share and growth over time
  • Membership profile characteristics including: language preference, age, and tenure
  • Financial usage indicators including services per member, average deposits, average loan volumes, delinquency rates and checking & lending penetration

Guardian Credit union in Milwaukee, WI states: "...I believe that the HMA was the propellant that I needed to push this initiative forward. It allowed my board to really engage in the details, to, in a concrete way, visualize the audience, the needs for this population and the opportunity for our credit union."
