Learn how to talk with clients about dentistry in Sept. 18 webinar

Veterinarians often diagnose dental problems during routine preventive care exams. A dog owner typically spends $208 for an exam, vaccines and diagnostics, and then receives a dental treatment plan averaging $427, according to the AAHA Veterinary Fee Reference, 8th edition. With the unexpected dental diagnosis, the client now faces more than $600 in needed care. Only 38% of pet owners accept dental treatments, according to the 2009 AAHA compliance study.

In our Sept. 18 webinar on "How to Say It: Talking With Clients About Dentistry," learn how to focus your conversation on the medical benefits of treating now. Your teams' ability to confidently explain dentistry influences clients' decisions and patient care.

This webinar covers:

  • Understanding industry benchmarks for dental compliance and fees
  • Presenting the dental treatment plan
  • Using visual aids to help clients understand this medical procedure
  • Scripts to call clients about dental procedures that were recommended but not scheduled at checkout
  • Creating the discharge experience
  • Promoting use of dental home-care products

Join us Thursday, Sept. 18 at 12 or 3 p.m. Eastern time for our webinar on "How to Say It: Talking With Clients About Dentistry." For $99 per hospital, you get the live or archived webinar, a handout, 1 hour of CE credit, a CE certificate, and unlimited playback of the recorded webinar following the event. If your team isn't available on Sept. 18, you may purchase access the on-demand session for the same price of $99, allowing you to then set your staff meeting around your schedule.

To enroll online, click here or call us at 720-344-2347 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mountain time.

We wanted to provide ample notice and hope shifting the schedule to Tuesday during the same week is convenient for your team. Monthly CE credit webinars will continue to be on the third Thursday of each month at 12 and 3 p.m. Eastern time.

Video tip: 3 tips to convert phone shoppers into new clients
When a phone shopper calls your hospital, does a confident receptionist answer the phone? If grumpy Gloria quotes a price and hangs up, she could be costing your clinic $6,000 per month in lost opportunity. Learn how to present service first and price last. Explain the retail value of your puppy or kitten baby gift to entice callers to make appointments. Lastly, always ask for the appointment. This video is sponsored by Animal Care Technologies.

Script of the month: Confirming dental appointments

When confirming dental appointments, avoid using the term "drop off," which implies the admission process takes seconds.

During confirmation calls, say, "Your dental admission appointment is scheduled for 7:45 to 8:00 a.m. with a technician, who will spend 15 minutes reviewing the consent form, answering your questions and getting phone numbers where we can reach you on the day of the procedure. Please allow at least 15 minutes for your pet's admission to the hospital. If you have questions, please call us at 555-555-5555."
