Bishop Steiner Ball on child poverty in West Virginia
In West Virginia, 1 in 4 children live below the poverty line. 56% of the state's children receive free or reduced lunch. How do people of faith respond? Through acts of charity and justice, writes Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball on pg. 4 of the West Virginia United Methodist. Bishop Steiner Ball spoke last month during Child Poverty Day at the West Virginia Legislature.

She also spoke during a West Virginia Legislature prayer breakfast at Christ Church United Methodist Feb. 26.

Continuing Education opportunity for small church pastors

On April 6, Rev. Sharon L. Schwab will present how small churches can develop effective leadership, share the gospel with their community and develop a balanced faith community that nurtures its membership while still witnessing and reaching out to the un-churched. This continuing education opportunity will take place at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. Pastors are encouraged to bring lay leadership to this event and continuing education credits are available. Contact JF Lacaria if you are interested in utilizing conference continuing education funds.
