Glory Sighting: Northern District Youth Stop Hunger Now!
When it comes to feeding the hungry, youth in the northern district don't mess around! On Feb. 23, Stop Hunger Now! stopped by to pick up 50,000 meals packed by youth and adults in the northern district.
"We began thinking about this 3 years or so ago," said the Rev. Greg Markins, pastor of Mt. Olivet UMC, where the event took place.

Markins said the day was inspiring. "This is the kind of thing I envisioned when I went into ministry," he said.
Conference Youth communicator, Claire Shanholtzer agrees. "The passion they [the youth] have to help people in need is admirable and a great lesson for everyone to learn from," she said.
Rev. Markins said that teamwork made the event possible. "The youth and adults of the district, along with the district youth coordinator, Rev. Keith Forkey, all came together to make this happen," he said.
Plans are already underway for next year's event.
