Imagine No Malaria
Preventable, Treatable, Curable. Malaria is all of these things. Yet someone dies from this disease every 60 seconds. Malaria has been around for thousands of years - and may have played a role in the death of King Tut.

Imagine No Malaria (INM) is an extraordinary effort of the people of The United Methodist Church, putting our faith into action to end preventable deaths by malaria in Africa, especially the death of a child or a mother. Between 85 and 90 percent of people who die from malaria are women.

Consider a contribution to Imagine No Malaria to honor your mother or another woman who had an impact on your life this Mother's Day. The video below is a great worship resource for a Mother's Day INM emphasis.

Bishop Calls for Focus on Child Poverty
Three in 10 West Virginia children live in poverty, and Bishop Steiner Ball believes United Methodists in the West Virginia Conference are called to help. "Our children who live in poverty need the voice of the church, as well as our advocacy and action," said the bishop in a letter to United Methodists in the conference last week. The bishop is asking churches to raise awareness of the issue during worship on February 24, or some time this spring.  >>>Read more.

Glory Sighting: Hurricane Sandy Relief
United Methodists in the West Virginia Conference have stepped up after Superstorm Sandy left a swath of devastation across the northeastern U.S. October 29.
Hurricane Sandy victims in Sissonville, WV found shelter at Aldersgate UMC
Although many conferences in the northeastern jurisdiction (NEJ) of the United Methodist Church suffered damage during Sandy the NEJ college of bishops recognized that the Greater New Jersey Conference was the hardest hit.

"For this reason, the NEJ College of Bishops initiated a special offering for the New Jersey Annual Conference," said Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball. The West Virginia Conference has given nearly $55,000 to the The Greater New Jersey Appeal Fund, in response to Bishop Steiner Ball's Appeal.  An additional 42, 201.52 has been given to the Hurricanes 2012 fund. Almost $97,000 has been raised between these two funds.

Thank you for your faithfulness!
