Superstorm Sandy has proven worthy of its title
Thousands of West Virginians joined millions of Americans living without power today on the east coast in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Heavy, wet snow has made some roads in West Virginia impassable, and the Governor Earl Ray Tomblin has urged citizens to stay off the roads as crews work to clear them.

"God speaks, and will continue to speak in the midst of this storm, even as it disrupts the people and communities in its path. In the midst of it, I invite you to connect with God," wrote Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball in a letter to the Conference Sunday night as Hurricane Sandy approached the east coast.

The Conference Center in Charleston was also closed today due to inclement weather.

We'll post regular updates regarding the storm and recovery efforts on the Conference's  Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Judicial Council keeps job security for elders
Citing the tradition of security of appointment in the United Methodist Church, the Judicial Council overturned legislation Saturday that would have deleted language in the church's Book of Discipline ensuring security of appointment.
