Obama Increases Minimum Salary Level for Overtime Pay

At the direction of President Obama, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) issued a proposed rule on June 30, that would change federal overtime exemptions for administrative, executive, professional, and computer professional employees-the so-called "white collar" worker classifications that have long been exempt from being paid time-and-one-half for working hours over 40 per week.

ABC Carolinas Awarded the "Joe M. Rogers Award" At 2015 National Legislative Conference

At the 2015 ABC National Legislative Conference in Washington, DC, the Carolinas Chapter was awarded the "Joe M. Rogers Award", which is presented to those ABC chapters in each of ten divisions with the highest dollar amount above $50 per member company raised for ABC PAC and $100 per member company for the Free Enterprise Alliance.

This award was established in 2009 by the ABC PAC Board of Trustees and the Free Enterprise Alliance to honor the legacy of the late Joe M. Rodgers. During his time as an ABC member, Joe served as a founding member of ABC's Mid-Tennessee chapter as well as its president. In 1976, he was elected ABC National Chairman. Joe's continuous dedication to the principles of free enterprise and his accomplishments in leading the initiative that turned ABC into a major political force as well as coining the phrase "Get Into Politics, or Get Out of Business" earned him recognition in 2000 as an ABC Leader of the Century.

The Carolinas Chapter is proud to receive this award and thanks each of its members who have contributed to ABC PAC and the Free Enterprise Alliance this year.
