Obama Administration's 'Blacklisting' Proposal Bad for Contractors, Employees and Taxpayers
|
Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today issued the following statement regarding the "Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces" proposed rule issued by the Federal Acquisition Regulatory (FAR) Council. The proposed rule, previously commonly referred to as the "blacklisting executive order," and a guidance memo issued by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) implementing President Obama's Executive Order 13673 targeting the federal contracting community were both released today.

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) released the following statement on the "Waters of the U.S." (WOTUS) final rule issued today by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps).

Extension Provides Short-Term Relief for Infrastructure Builders
|
With less than 48 hours before the funds were set to dry up, President Obama signed a two month extension of federal highway funding on May 29. The extension of the Highway Trust Fund (HTF), which funds safety, highway, transit and other transportation related programs, comes at a time of great debate about how to fund improvements and repairs to America's roads, bridges and transportation infrastructure. The extension will now expire on July 31.

NCCER Safety Technology Program
This program provides instruction on how to implement and administer a company safety program. The program is designed for field managers, safety directors, owner safety reps, and insurance/loss control representatives.
These classes will be held once a month beginning in June and running through October.
June 12: Intro to Safety Technology
July 10: Employee Motivation
August 14: Safety Orientation/Training
Sept 18: Accident Investigation: Policies/Procedures
October 16: OSHA Inspection Procedures
Members: $200 per class
Non-members: $400 per class
