Getting Ready for Fall 2010

Our exciting Fall 2010 schedule of courses is now available online. Two of our Tuesday classes will be held in the beautiful, and comfortable, Freight and Salvage this term.

Be sure to check out the OLLI homepage in about a week for the course descriptions. We will also be posting syllabi for courses when available, along with required and recommended reading lists in case preparation is needed for a course.

The color brochures will be mailed by the first week of August BUT registration will start on Monday, July 12, for those who wish to be All-inclusive members this year. Annual and single term members can start registering on Monday, July 19.

We are pleased to offer the split payment plan for All-inclusive memberships again. If you select to split your payment, the total will be $725 (pay $400 when you register, and the balance will be charged in late November). If you have questions, contact the OLLI office at 510.642.9934.

Mark Tuesday, September 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on your calendar for the Fall Open House. Hear the Fall faculty and visit with your classmates from last year at Freight and Salvage (2020 Addison Street in downtown Berkeley).

Following the Open House, you're invited to our first All Members Meeting from 12:30-1:30 p.m. to learn more about OLLI's 2010-11 programming and how you can play a part in making OLLI @Berkeley a stronger program as a member and as a volunteer.

Philz  Coffee
1600 Shattuck Avenue (between Cedar and Lincoln), Berkeley, CA  94709
This San Francisco Mission District cult favorite now has a Berkeley location, not that far from OLLI, and worth the long walk for a great cup of coffee. This is coffee for the purist--shade-grown beans, filter-dripped, made to order one cup at a time, foam-topped, and as sweet and creamy as you desire. There are twenty or so handcrafted coffee blends, and that's all there is--no lattes, no cappuccinos, no macchiatos--just  a perfect cup of coffee.

There are pastries, cakes. and croissants, if you need them, but if you want real food, walk up the street and grab a slice of pizza at the Cheese Board Collective, 1512 Shattuck Avenue (between Cedar and Vine), or sample the offerings at  Epicurious Garden, directly across the street at 1509 Shattuck Avenue.
