We are exploring new ways to integrate technology to enhance our Gwinnett County Public Schools Quality Plus Teaching Strategies.

Monday, September 23, is Zaxby's Spirit Night!

Bring the family out TONIGHT for delicious chicken, salads, and milkshakes! Every order helps our school, so invite your friends and neighbors. We look forward to seeing lots of Jaguars at Zaxby's this evening!

 The Scholastic Book Fair starts this week !!! 

In the media center from September 23rd to September 27th.

 

Students will be visiting the book fair for previews on Monday and Tuesday.

The book fair will be open until 4:00pm on Monday - Thursday.

We look forward to seeing many parents shopping during early release days.

 

This will be a GREAT opportunity to purchase a book that is written and/or illustrated by David Catrow. We will have many titles available both online and at the fair.

David Catrow will sign books when he visits on October 3rd.

Boosterthon is Coming!
     
Our school pep rallies for Boosterthon will take place on September 25.
K-2 will have their rally in the Jaguar Cafe from 10:30-11:00 AM,
3-5 will participate from 11:30 AM-12:00 PM.
The Fun Run will take place on October 4.
Grades 3-5 will run from 8:30-9:30 AM,
Grades K-2 will run from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM.

Sky Zone Spirit Night
Wednesday, September 25!
  
This is an early release day at Suwanee Elementary, so choose one hour between 3 PM and 8 PM (last entry time is 7 PM) for your child to jump, bounce, shoot some hoops, play dodge ball and in general have a grand time! 

One-hour tickets are $8; two-hour tickets are $16. Sky Zone will also offer a $10 meal deal, which includes a large pizza and four drinks. Pizzas are delivered twice an hour by Riverside Pizza to Sky Zone, so you are encouraged to place your meal deal order when you arrive so that your food will be available when your hour of jumping is complete. 

The class with the highest attendance will win the opportunity to return to Sky Zone for a complimentary Class Party. (Details will be provided to the winning teacher, but the winning class will enjoy an hour of jump time and 40 minutes in a party room, complete with pizza and drinks.) Be sure to register when you enter Sky Zone and ask for the meal deal at the snack bar. 

Please note the following before coming to Sky Zone:
*Everyone who jumps must have a waiver filled out and signed by a parent or legal guardian. The waiver can be filled out online at www.skyzone.com or by downloading the pdf of the waiver at: http://atlanta.skyzonesports.com/Waiver.aspx
 *Every jumper must wear Sky Zone shoes with socks. Socks are available for purchase for $2 a pair. 
*No outside food or drink is allowed inside the facility. 
*Sky Zone accepts cash, Visa, or MasterCard but NO personal checks. 

Other dates for Sky Zone spirit nights this school year are Nov. 21, Feb. 6 and Apr. 1. 
Day of Work With Environmental Committee and Dads' Club

Please plan to join us at the school on Sunday, September 29th, from 3:00-5:00 PM for a day of work to help improve our school grounds! We will be working between the gym and school in the areas with the picnic tables. We also plan to replace the bench swing and, time permitting, will spread pine straw and plant some new plants in the plant boxes. Everyone is welcome, so please plan to come join us in making Suwanee Elementary beautiful! 

Suwanee Elementary and Gwinnett County Public Schools,

in partnership with the Gwinnett Coalition,

will be collecting toilet paper to help families in need.

 

Dates of collection are: October 3rd and 4th  

Great Days of Service   

The donation your child makes will help the lives of families and children that are in need. All donations will be distributed to the appropriate agencies by the Gwinnett Coalition.

 

We believe in the power of people helping people!

 

Join us for an evening to celebrate reading!

 

Award-winning Author and Illustrator, David Catrow

will be speaking to Gwinnett families at Ivy Creek Elementary School on

Thursday evening, October 3rd at 6:30 PM in the Media Center.

Admission is free and you may win one of his original drawings or a favorite book! 

Come early to purchase his books and have them autographed!

Choose from seventeen different titles ranging in price from $5-$12.

The Atlanta Burger Truck will be on site at 5:00 PM serving grilled 100% all natural locally sourced burgers, homemade sides made from scratch, floats & shakes!

If you have a student that missed the first picture day, their picture will be taken. Email your teacher of you need an order form.

If you were not happy with the pictures you purchased, please send them in with your student on picture day and let your teacher know your would like to have their picture re-taken.

Kindergarten 1st and 2nd grade in a competition
and 3rd 4th and 5th grade in a competition.

 IT'S TIME FOR REFLECTIONS!

Safety and Security

All schools have a safety and security plans. The plans are designed with the help of school security and support staff members, as well as local law enforcement, emergency management, and public health officials. Plans are reviewed and updated regularly. These plans include procedures to respond to critical incidents such as tornados, medical emergencies and criminal acts. All staff members are trained on all procedures as it relates to how to handle issues related to safety and security.
