A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Dear PDL Families,

This week we began our GLPD rotations.  The students are enjoying science, yoga and music.  Your child participates in GLPD weekly thanks to your generous donations and support.  Please ask your child what he/she enjoys most on this day and what they are doing in these classes.  If you have specific questions or would like to share a comment with our consultants, you can stop by their room or email them.  Our Science Consultant is Lauren Romano, our Music Consultant is Sam Wilmurt and our Health and Wellness Instructors are Shannon Rondo, Erin Daniels and Stephanie Trogden.  Their emails are lauren.romano@eusd.net , sam.wilmurt@eusd.net, shannon.rondo@eusd.net, erin.daniels@eusd.net and Stephanie.trogden@eusd.net.

Our Reading Counts for the 2014-15 school year has been launched and students are able to take quizzes.  Our first challenge is for 300 students to achieve at least one tag.  The cut off for this challenge is Wednesday, November 19th.  The students have an opportunity to go to the library with their class once a week.  In addition, our library is open after school on Monday throughThursday and before school on Friday for book check out.  I am excited to learn what my first challenge will be.   The students have been generating their ideas and a selection will be made and announced tomorrow.  Let's surpass our goal...READ! READ! READ!

Our students are actively engaged in blended learning and students in third through sixth grade are taking their iPads home. Take the time to ask your students to share with you how their day at school was and to show you how they use their iPad during the day. Here are a few engaging questions to ask and the answers may surprise you:

  • Tell me something that made you laugh today.
  • How did somebody help you today? How did you help somebody today?
  • What do you think you should do/learn more at school?
  • Who in your class do you think you could be nicer to?
  • Tell me three different times you used your pencil at school today.
  • Tell me something good that happened today.

SMILE,

Mrs. Greenberger
