A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Dear PDL Families,

Welcome to week two! I want to thank those families who have already participated in our Helping Hands fund and returned all of their first day packet forms.  I encourage and hope all of you will participate.  Any amount you are able to donate is greatly appreciated.  Please bring your donations and forms into the office.

Just as predicted, things are starting to settle down a bit as we fall into new routines. This start has been very smooth and I can only hope that the trend continues. Thank you for being polite, driving slowly, keeping our traffic flow light and having students arrive on time and ready to learn every day.  Now, more than ever, it is important to establish rituals that will carry your family through the more stressful times ahead. By that I mean, the back to school assessments are wrapping up and our teachers are diving into the "meat" of their coursework. Even in kindergarten, students may start to feel pulled by the expectations imposed by learning new and involved topics. It is important at this time to establish a regular bedtime, sit at the family table to share a meal each evening (at least twice a week), complete and review homework each day and have a dedicated quiet time together to read, re-group and relax at the end of a long day. We adults need it just as much!  I hope all of you have a wonderful three-day weekend.

Recharge, play and enjoy every moment!

BOX TOPS

Don't forget to clip Box Tops off of your favorite foods.  Every Box Top counts!  Please submit your Box Tops to your child's teacher once a month because they expire.  Each class is competing against each other to collect the most.  We raised over $1,129 in Box Tops last year- let's try to earn $1,500 this school year!  Please remind your family members, work friends, and neighbors to cut them as well!  We will keep track of classroom totals on a chart in the library.  There will be an ice cream sundae making party or pizza party for the class that collects the most Box Tops by the January deadline, and another party for the class that collects the most by the June deadline! They really add up fast!  If you have any questions please email Jennifer Rohr:  jenrohr95@gmail.com

FREE MONEY FROM TARGET!

Have you applied for a Target Red card yet?  You get 5% back on EVERY purchase you make and Park Dale Lane gets 1%.  We all shop at Target, so this is an easy way to raise money for PDL.  You can apply for a debit or a credit card.  Our goal is 40 new Target Red cards this year.  Many Park Dale parents have already applied for a Target Red card and picked PDL to receive their 1% back!  Target has donated $13,358.58 to PDL so far!  While this is amazing, other schools our size do even better.  Every dollar counts! Don't forget to select PDL as your school of choice once you receive your card!  If you have any questions please contact: Jennifer Rohr  jenrohr95@gmail.com
