After George McManus' mother died when George was but six years old, his father, having no other means to care for his four young sons, took to dropping the boys off at the church when he went to work. Hard work and the generosity of others allowed George to climb from humble beginnings to a successful legal career, and he made good on a promise to himself to help others as he had been helped. His legacy at BCF demonstrates his gratitude to his community, and links generations of his family together in philanthropy.
