FEATURE STORY
Celebrating scholars and donors
We celebrated 29 wonderful scholarship winners and the generous donors who made their awards possible at Ravens Stadium on June 17. Inspirational speakers at the gathering included the winner of a new award: the BCF Scholarship for Young Civic Leaders.

One scholarship success story

Last year's winner of the Legg Mason Scholarship at BCF distinguished himself in his freshman year -- so much so that Legg Mason invited him to speak at their all-employee holiday party, and followed up with a summer internship. Legg Mason VP Auburn Bell says the firm wants to give Matthew Reeds "a 360 experience." Learn more.
These professional advisors make a difference
Meaning, these folks really demonstrate the love of humankind that is the root of the word philanthropy. Each year we honor professional advisors who promote philanthropy through their practice. This year we inducted J. Darby Bowman and Nancy Bryant into the Professional Advisors Recognition Society. See the whole list here

Legacy donors share a vision for Baltimore
Members of BCF's Legacy Society--people who have included BCF in their estate plan--gathered for an annual luncheon, hosted this year by Margot Shriver. Following the meal, these thoughtful donors talked about their concerns and vision for Baltimore's future and what they hope to accomplish through their charitable legacies. Find out more.
Women's Giving Circle Awards $425,000
Through collective giving and collaboration, the Baltimore Women's Giving Circle at the Baltimore Community Foundation seeks to empower women and their families in the Greater Baltimore area to achieve self-sufficiency. The grants distributed each year by the group reflect that mission, and are made possible by annual donations from more than 400 Circle members. See the list of 2014 grants here.
