FEATURE STORY

Early learning helps bridge gaps

Parents of all income levels want their children to thrive, but many children in Baltimore begin their lives at a distinct disadvantage. That's why we invest in early childhood education -- it can help close that gap. Expanding access to pre-K is a key issue we'll advocate for in 2014 -- you can see our full advocacy agenda here, and click here to sign up for our Advocacy Alerts.
Thank you, Civic Leadership Fund donors!
Our heartfelt thanks to all those who responded to our annual appeal in 2013. Those gifts provide the operating capital for BCF to achieve its vision for Baltimore -- a region with a growing economy in which all have the opportunity to thrive. See who all made a gift here. Forgot? Not to worry -- it's never too late.
My Legacy: Patricia Likakis
BCF donor Patricia Likakis raised her two sons as a single mother, and now she's giving back to parents in the same situation. "My hope is that by establishing this fund, single-parent families will know that they are not forgotten," she says. Read her story here, and click here to begin preparing a legacy of your own.
Brian O'Malley new Transportation Alliance CEO
Brian O'Malley has officially taken the helm of the Central Maryland Transportation Alliance. He didn't have to go far -- since 2008, he's been the director of transportation policy and programs with the Alliance. Read more about Brian and the leadership change here
Tax credits for sustainable schools
Support the Green, Healthy, Smart Challenge in City Schools and earn state tax credits that can make a $1,000 charitable donation cost you just $180. Learn more about how kids use the Challenge to make their schools more green, and how to take advantage of the credits, here.
A New Year's resolution: plan your philanthropy
Resolved to get organized this year? More than half of Americans don't have a will -- if you're among them, planning your will or trust is a great place to start on that resolution. And BCF makes it easy: download or request our free Wills Guide to get started.
