Judge Benton to Speak at SMBA Lunch The Honorable Duane Benton will be our speaker for our October SMBA lunch meeting. Judge Benton has served on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit since 2004 and resides in Kansas City, however he was born in Springfield and is an enthusiastic member of the SMBA. Judge Benton has had a distinguished career, serving on the Missouri Supreme Court and as director of the Missouri Department of Revenue prior to joining the federal bench. Judicial Evaluation Results Released Today Judges who serve under the Missouri's Non-Partisan Court Plan run in retention elections at the end of their term. They are evaluated by one of seven different committees, either an Appellate Judicial Evaluation Committee or a Circuit Judicial Evaluation Committee.
