Koster to Speak on the Death Penalty Next Week, Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster will speak at the July SMBA Lunch. Koster made headlines when he delivered the keynote address at last month's BAMSL conference, suggesting that Missouri should open a state operated pharmaceutical lab in response to the controversy and inaccessibility of drugs used for capital punishment. Board Case Family A series of lectures, films and a national traveling exhibit exploring two major civil rights movements that changed America is planned July 12-August 22 in Springfield. The series includes a talk at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at Central High School by Linda and Cheryl Brown, whose late father joined a challenge that became the landmark, 1954 U.S. Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education. This is the 60th anniversary year of the decision. The national traveling exhibit, which opens with guest speakers and music at 1 p.m. July 12 at the Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell Ave., is called "Changing America: The Emancipation Proclamation, 1863 and the March on Washington, 1963." A detailed schedule is available at thelibrary.org/changingamerica.
