Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association

Announcement

The Honorable Mark Orr
1960-2014

It is with sadness we note the passing of Judge Mark Orr on Sunday, June 1, 2014. Judge Orr is survived by his wife, Sarah, and daughters, Emily and Mary.

Judge Orr served the 38th Judicial Circuit from his election to the bench in 2002 until his death. Christian County Associate Circuit Judge John Waters has been named acting presiding judge of the 38th Circuit until a circuit judge takes office pursuant to appointment or election.

Early in his career Judge Orr worked for the firm Pool, Smith and Wieland. Dave Wieland had this reflection today, "I had the opportunity to work with Judge Orr early in his career. I was struck by how, even as a very young attorney; he had the ability to isolate the practical aspects of a case to the client's advantage."

The 38th Circuit consists of Christian and Taney counties, but Judge Orr remained connected to the Missouri Bar, having served on the Board of Governors and also to the Springfield Metropolitan Bar, and he leaves behind scores of colleagues who mourn his passing.

Visitation with the family will be held this evening, June 2, from 5:00 to 8:00 at First Baptist Church, 1400 W. Jackson, Ozark, Mo. Funeral Services are also scheduled at the church on Tuesday, June 3 at 11:00 a.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home Ozark. Memorials may be made to the Finley River Community Foundation, PO Box 1176, Ozark, MO 65721. View obituary on legacy.com
