Judicial Commission Announces Deadlines/ Application Process

In a notice released today, the 31st Circuit Judicial Commission outlined the nomination and selection process for the new Associate Circuit Judge of the 31st Judicial Circuit (Greene County), pursuant to the creation of that position by the General Assembly.

Public interviews will be held September 24 and 25, 2013. The commission will select a panel of three nominees. Following the submission of the panel, Governor Jay Nixon will have sixty days to appoint one of the panel members.

The Missouri Constitution, Article V, Section 21, requires that an Associate Circuit Judge be at least twenty-five years old, licensed to practice law in Missouri, a citizen of the United States for at least ten years, a qualified voter of Missouri for the three years preceding selection, and a resident of the 31st Judicial Circuit for at least one year.

Members of the Commission are William W. Francis, Jr., Chief Judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District; attorneys Clifford Smart and Andrew K. Bennett; and lay members Sara L. Hargis and Linda F. Fowler.
