Good News for Greene County, Governor Signs HB 374
Last week the Bar Bell reported that Governor Jay Nixon signed Senate Bill 100, authorizing an additional associate circuit judge for Greene County. Shortly thereafter, the governor signed HB 374, establishing a redistricting process and insuring that underserved areas like Greene County will have judicial parity. The new law also gives Greene County the same discretion as Jackson County in setting its civil case surcharge, and further, shifts payment of the salaries of family court commissioners back to the state for those positions which are currently being paid by Greene County.
