Bussell Receives Top Honor
Leland Bussell was named 2013 SMBA Distinguished Attorney at the Law Day lunch, May 1, 2013. This award is the highest honor bestowed by the Bar and Bussell, past SMBA President, is the 15th recipient. State Senator Bob Dixon received the Liberty Bell Award and Equal Access to Justice Award was presented to Derek Ankrom of Husch Blackwell.

Awards were also presented to area students who submitted a record 99 essays and 154 posters for the Law Day contests. Nate Dunville, a 1L at University of Missouri was the recipient of a $2,000 scholarship.

Strong Garner Bauer Recaptures Fastest Firm
The SMBA Law Day 5K was held Thursday evening, May 2, 2013. Despite the change of date and venue and a forecast predicting the possibility of snow, dozens of hearty SMBA members, families and others gathered at Jordan Valley Park. The fastest firm trophy went to Strong Garner Bauer and the team of Grant Rahmeyer, Chandler Gregg and Nick Smart.

The overall fastest male and female were both SMBA members with Eric Belk and Emma Schuering taking those awards. (Race Results)

Starting, June 1, 2013, All Criminal Case Types Shall be eFiled
Steve Helms, Greene County Circuit Clerk

Pursuant to Court Operating Rule 27.01, the Missouri Court Automation Committee, together with the 31st Circuit Court en banc, has determined that effective, June 1, 2013, all criminal case types shall be filed electronically in Greene County. In addition all subsequent documents, pleadings, and correspondence with the Court in these case types shall be filed electronically. An exception is authorized for self-represented parties who may file paper documents with the Circuit Clerk which will be scanned into the electronic file.
