N.J. OKs more than $200M in tax breaks for North Jersey job-creating projects

N.J. home prices rising, but still not 2006 peak levels

New Jersey posted nearly 3 percent growth in home prices in May, new data shows, but real estate values across the country rose at a faster rate over the last year.Single-family home prices, including distressed sales, increased by 2.76 percent in May from a year ago, according to a report released on Tuesday by the research firm CoreLogic, and inched up 0.8 percent from the previous month.READ MORE

HUD Rule on Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing
This Wednesday, HUD released a final rule to equip communities that receive HUD funding with the data and tools that will help them to meet long-standing fair housing obligations in their use of HUD funds. The Obama administration's changes aim to provide cities with specific guidance to adhere to these rules. Communities will be required to set goals based on the data for smarter investments in housing, schools and transportation that will be closely monitored. READ MORE 

 

Like-Kind Exchanges Survey Report
This May, EBCBOR members went to capitol hill to advocate for important industry issues, one of the issues was the preservation of the like-kind exchange provision. The main benefit of like-kind exchanges resides with the opportunity to allocate capital and resources more efficiently. For example, an entrepreneur may develop a business idea leading to better economic use of an existing property.
