National News: Home values in 20 percent of US housing markets headed for record highs within a year Home values in almost 20 percent of all U.S. metros will surpass their housing boom peaks over the next year, and affordability problems that have begun to affect a fraction of markets may spread to others over the next few years. The lows of the housing recession are becoming an increasingly distant memory as home values reach new highs and homes become more expensive than ever in many areas. READ MORE
State News: Gov. Christie says N.J. economy better now than 4 years ago
In a keynote address Tuesday night at the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce's annual "Walk to Washington" congressional dinner, Gov. Chris Christie said that undoubtedly, the state's economic outlook is brighter now than when he first took office. "Are things better in New Jersey than they were four years ago?" Christie asked. "Of course they are."
But without bipartisan reform on issues such as the high costs of pension and health benefit payments, that optimism "can be turned around in a blink of an eye," Christie warned. READ MORE
Local News: Update on Bogota Development
What is going on at vacant lot at 297 Palisade Ave in Bogota. Under the deal with Bogota, 297 Palisades can build 37 two-bedroom units and seven one-bedroom units, with 87 on-site parking spaces in a two-level garage. Over the 30-year agreement, the borough would receive $3.4 million in revenues from the development, less than half of the $7.8 million the developer would have had to pay without the tax break. However, the tax break lets the borough keep all the revenue, which otherwise would have had to be shared with the school district and the county.READ MORE

Blue Acres Legislation at Work- N.J. eyes nearly 700 homes for post-Sandy buyouts
New Jersey has identified nearly 700 homes it plans to buy and demolish as part of an effort to move people out of flood prone areas.A key feature of the Blue Acres program is identifying willing sellers in close proximity to one another. You Don't Have to be Bilingual to be a Global Agent!
If you are concerned that you won't find success as a global real estate practitioner because you don't speak another language, think again. In the international business world, you'll find that English tends to be the common language. U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan has noted, "Only 18% of Americans report speaking a language other than English, while 53% of Europeans (and increasing numbers in other parts of the world) can converse in a second language." Obviously, foreign language proficiency is a huge advantage, but it certainly is not a deal-maker, and it doesn't have to be a deal-breaker either. There are ways you can get around your foreign language deficiencies and still work with international clients successfully. Check out these helpful resources
