The Mayor's budget will be released June 1, and we are ready to take our campaign to the Board of Supervisor and Mayor. If the funds are not included, we will launch a postcard and online campaign. Email us at [email protected] to get postcards delivered to your site - available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian and Vietnamese.

Digital Inclusion (Or Lack Of) - In The News

The Mayor's Office and the Committee on Information Technology presented a $155 million plan to upgrade City government's technology.
Supervisor Eric Mar requested the Legislative Analyst do a report to address the issue of the digital divide and held a hearing to discuss the report.
Supervisor Mark Farrell has also called for San Francisco to be a Gigabit City.
But what will this year's budget do to keep an increasing percentage of seniors and people with disabilities from being left behind?  Watch the Keep Us Connected Campaign for an update.

Senior and Disability City Budget Priorities

For this year's San Francisco budget, senior and disability organizations and advocates have the following priorities:

  • Affordable housing
  • Elevator repair in SRO's
  • Community Living Fund expansion
  • Food Justice
  • Increased funding for senior centers, the new DAAS "Hub", and the expansion of the SF Connected Program (supported by the Keep Us Connected Campaign).

Once the Mayor's budget is released June 1, we will focus our efforts with the Supervisors on those items that the Mayor didn't fund. Watch for a special update when the draft budget is released and then up to the minute updates on our Facebook page or blog

The Tenants Union is offering a series of neighborhood based workshops to help renters learn their rights and how to protect their homes. Conducted by Tenant Attorney Dean Preston, who reported that the biggest cause of displacement is 'gotcha' evictions,"Landlords either make up allegations of misconduct by tenants or are evicting tenants over very minor issues....Some tenants don't know their rights and simply move out in those situations."  Learn your rights so you can protect yourself and those you care about and remember, in the words of the late Joe Lacey, "you are not alone." You can view the upcoming schedule here.
